What this platform is

Lamu Opportunity Intelligence is an information service operated by Afrigender Analytics Limited. It collects, verifies and publishes information about opportunities that may be relevant to young people in Lamu County, and it offers tools to help you work out which of them might suit your situation.

What Afrigender's role is

Afrigender is:

• the operator of this platform;
• the curator and verifier of the opportunity information it publishes;
• a research and data organisation that analyses what the platform learns in aggregate;
• the provider of its own capacity-building programme, the Lamu Data Lab.

Afrigender is not:

• the provider, funder or awarding body of the other opportunities listed here;
• a recruitment agency, an employment agency or a scholarship administrator;
• a party to your application, or able to influence any selection decision;
• a government body, or endorsed by one.

No guarantees

Nothing on this platform is a guarantee of employment, admission, funding, eligibility or success. A recommendation means our matching system found a correspondence between what you told us and what an opportunity states. It is not a prediction and not a judgement about you.

Being recommended the Lamu Data Lab does not guarantee a place on it. Selection is made separately by Afrigender.

Accuracy, and its limits

Every opportunity published here is traced to an official source and checked before it appears. We record when it was verified and where the information came from, and both are shown on the opportunity page.

Information nonetheless changes without notice. Deadlines move, programmes are cancelled, and eligibility rules are revised. Always confirm the current requirements with the organisation running the opportunity before you apply, spend money, or travel.

If you find something on this site that is wrong or out of date, please tell us at info@afrigenderanalytics.co.ke — corrections are welcome and are acted on.

External links and applications

Applications are made on the website of the organisation offering the opportunity, not here. When you follow an application link you leave this platform, and what happens next is governed by that organisation's own terms and privacy practices, not ours.

Listing an opportunity is not an endorsement of the organisation offering it. If an organisation asks you for money to apply for a job, be careful, and tell us.

AI-assisted features

Some features use an AI assistant to explain results in ordinary language. Where that happens it is labelled. The assistant works only from the opportunities already in our verified database and the information you provided; it is not permitted to look elsewhere or to state anything the database does not contain.

AI output can still be wrong or unclear. It does not replace reading the opportunity itself, and it does not replace checking with the provider. If an AI explanation contradicts the opportunity detail page, the opportunity detail page is what counts.

The skills assessment

The skills assessment is exploratory. It records what you say about your own confidence. It is not a validated psychological or occupational instrument, it does not measure ability, and it must not be presented to anyone as a qualification or a test result.

Learning pathways

Learning pathways are suggested sequences for building skills. They are not formal qualifications and completing one does not award a certificate, unless the pathway explicitly names a recognised programme.

Using the platform properly

When you use this site, please do not:

• submit false information about an opportunity or an organisation;
• attempt to gain access to administrative functions or another person's account;
• extract the database in bulk by automated means;
• use the AI assistant to attempt to produce content unrelated to opportunities and skills;
• use the platform to harass, defraud or mislead anyone.

We rate-limit requests to keep the service available and its running costs sustainable. Accounts used abusively may be suspended.

Submitting an opportunity

Employers, training providers and community organisations may submit opportunities. Submission is not publication. Every submission is reviewed against its official source, and anything that cannot be verified is not published. We do not commit to a timescale for review.

Your account

An account is optional. You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your profile, saved opportunities and pathways.

Availability

This platform is provided as a public-interest service by a small organisation. We aim to keep it available and current, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service, and features may change as the platform develops.
