Who is behind the work.

A small firm. The person you brief is the person who does the analysis.

Dr. Lodis Akol Michael

Founder & Managing Director

PhD in Theoretical Economics (National Development), National School of Development, Peking University. MPA, Tsinghua University. BBM in Purchasing and Supplies Management, Mount Kenya University. Recipient of the Li Anshan Prize for Excellence in African Studies, 2025.

Eighteen years of professional experience in Kenya spanning national government service, port administrative and security operations at the Kenya Ports and Railways Police, operational consultancy on the LAPSSET corridor, and independent procurement consultancy in Lamu County.

The sequence matters. Most development economists study institutions and then advise them; this one served in them first and formalised the analysis afterwards. It is not a substitute for method — it is what makes the method land on a county procurement file that does not look like the textbook.

Research interests span development economics, public finance, and the measurement of women’s economic participation. Doctoral research examined gendered labour market outcomes and the mechanisms through which they transmit.
